In interactions between humans the human motions play an important role. They contain information about the current and future tasks of a person, and they also mirror a person's emotional condition.
The observation of motions helps humans to understand each other. Knowledge about motions is equally important when a humanoid robot is interacting with a human, which we investigate in Collaborative Research Center 588. The robot can use the knowledge about its human counterpart to plan its own tasks and to react properly to the person's behaviour. In our research we investigate the modeling of human motions and the design of human motion recognition system.
