Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopie is a reliable and portable brain imaging method. Combined with speech, which is a very natural mean of communication, it offers an intuitiv control mechansim for computers within a Brain-Computer-Interface. Our previous research has shown that this innovative control paradigm has huge potential for robust machine control. Despite these promising outlooks, there are, to the best of our knowledge, no existing interfaces using these technologies, yet.
In this project, we want to develop a real-time Brain-Computer-Interface, which enables patients to communicate with the outside world. To achieve this, our previous research has to be transfered to a dynamic context and prepared for the reliable, comfortable and intuitiv usage in real-life scenarious.
